Artificial intelligence to help preparation for Tasmania's fire season

 Firefighters are using technology which reports back every 15 minutes to give them eyes on potential bushfire areas 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Monitoring Tasmania's remote and challenging terrain is a luxury firefighters have never had, but a new artificial-intelligence camera trial may be able to help.

Andrew "Twiggy" Forrest's Minderoo Foundation is helping fund a Tasmanian Fire Service, Parks and Wildlife and Sustainable Timber Tasmania trial of the high-definition cameras across three northern sites.
