Father and daughter killed in collision with bus south of Hobart

 A man and his young daughter have been killed in a crash involving their car and a private bus in Tasmania's south, police say.


Key points:

The bus was travelling north on Algona Road in Kingston, south of Hobart, when it and a south-bound black sedan collided

A man and a female child travelling in the sedan were prounounced dead at the scene

Police said the impact between the bus and the sedan was "very severe" and that the incident was a "tragic reminder" to be safe on the roads

The crash happened on Algona Road in Kingston, south of Hobart, just after 8:40am, closing the road for eight hours.


Tasmania Police Inspector Jason Elmer said the north-bound bus and a black sedan, which was travelling south, collided.


Inspector Elmer said there was "a very severe impact" between the bus and the sedan.


"As a result of that collision the sedan has then collided with another two vehicles that were also travelling north on Algona Road," Inspector Elmer said.
