Tasmania to drop PCR test entry requirement as state records 92 new COVID cases
Tasmania will relax PCR testing requirements for all incoming travellers from January 1 as the state records 92 new COVID cases and two new hospitalisations since reopening its borders to hotspots.
Tasmania opened its borders to vaccinated travellers from interstate hotspots earlier this month, but required proof of a negative PCR COVID test within 72 hours before arriving in the state.
Premier Peter Gutwein announced the relaxing of travel rules after a National Cabinet meeting today, with a rapid antigen test (RAT) now required 24 hours prior to travelling to Tasmania.
"If the result is positive, you cannot come," Mr Gutwein said.
