Tasmania no longer has any COVID-19 patients in intensive care, 726 new cases in state

 Tasmania no longer has any COVID patients receiving intensive care, as the state records 726 new cases. Today's figures from the Health Department show that of the 24 people in hospital, 12 are being treated specifically for COVID-19 symptoms — one more than yesterday. "We're continuing to see COVID cases plateau," Premier Peter Gutwein said. "Importantly, with 726 cases confirmed to 8pm last night, there have also been 794 cases recovered and released from quarantine." Trial for e-scooters in Hobart should be paused amid injuries and 'deep concerns', two councillors say

 Two Hobart City councillors are calling for a trial of e-scooters to be put on ice in Hobart for a month so an "urgent report" can be done on the safety risks they pose.  Aldermen Jeff Briscoe and Marti Zucco said disability advocates and senior citizens had "expressed deep concerns" about the use of scooters on footpaths. They said there were many instances of them being "used inappropriately … including doubling up, vandalism, kids under 16 using them, no helmets and inappropriate speeds". Check in TAS app under review, could be dumped for low-risk venues, government flags

 Tasmanians may soon no longer need to "check in" when visiting most common venues like shops and restaurants, the government has flagged. Premier Peter Gutwein yesterday said the government was reviewing the Check in TAS app's usage. While no decision has been made yet, he flagged changes could mean checking in would only be required at places considered high risk — such as at hospitals, aged care homes and festivals and other mass gatherings. According to the latest figures, released by the Health Department on Friday, there are 19 COVID-positive people in Tasmanian hospitals. Nine of those are being treated specifically for COVID.
